Hi – Welcome to the SAU 85, Sunapee School District’s website.  I am very excited to have the opportunity to work as the new Superintendent of our new SAU (School Administrative Unit).  Although the Sunapee School District has been around for many years, on July 1, 2008 our district formed its very own SAU.  Approximately 500 students attend our two schools, the Sunapee Central Elementary School for grades K-5 and the Sunapee Middle High School for grades 6-12.

Our small student population allows teachers and staff to get to know every student, to nurture their strengths, and to provide support and encouragement to help them achieve.  We are very fortunate to have such a great school system available to our students and our larger community.  Sunapee students have a wonderful variety of opportunities to learn academically, socially, athletically, and emotionally during their years in our district.  They can participate in the arts, on the ski team, in the Harvard Model Congress, just to name a few of the many options available.

Since starting the job as SAU 85 Superintendent of Schools, I have had the chance to meet with several students, teachers, staff members, parents, and community members.  I am impressed by the students’ friendliness and courteousness, parents’ involvement in the education and lives of their children, and teachers’ dedication to their students and their commitment to continued professional growth and development.  Finally, I want to thank the larger community for all of the support they have given to Sunapee schools over the years.  I look forward to meeting many more of you over the upcoming year and beyond.  Here’s to a great new school year!

Dr. Brendan Minnihan
Superintendent, SAU 85
